What is Halotherapy?

Salt in relaxing natural bowl for health

Halotherapy, or “dry salt therapy,” uses a device called a halogenerator to disperse microscopic salt particles into the air. As you breathe in the salt-infused air and relax in the space, the particles enter your lungs and settle on your skin. This natural practice is known to support respiratory health, improve certain skin conditions, and promote a greater sense of calm and well-being.

What are the health benefits of Halotherapy?

Salt Therapy has been shown to alleviate symptoms of many ailments of body and mind, such as:

allergies, asthma, bronchitis, eczema, psoriasis, sleep disorders, stress, anxiety, depression…and more.

FAQs

  • 8 out of 10 people have never heard of halotherapy. Although there are many scientific benefits to improved health with halotherapy, the main thing we hear when people walk in the door is “I immediately feel calm”. We ALL need that!

  • The healing benefits of a salt room come from a device called a halogenerator, not just the décor. While salt rooms can vary in appearance, it’s the halotherapy machine that makes them effective. This machine grinds pharmaceutical-grade salt into microscopic particles and disperses them into the air. These tiny salt particles are then inhaled into your lungs and absorbed through your skin, supporting respiratory health, skin conditions, and overall relaxation.

  • Beyond the benefits of deep relaxation, a majority of people who include Halotherapy in their wellness routine may find relief from a variety of conditions such as:

    Asthma

    Allergies

    Common cold

    Bronchitis

    COPD

    Cystic fibrosis

    Sinusitis

    Ear Infections

    Smokers cough

    Psoriasis

    Itching

    Eczema

    Swelling & Inflammation

    Dermatitis

    Dry & Flaky Skin

    Acne

    Rashes

    Rosacea

    Skin Aging

  • Just breathe. Recline in a zero gravity chair while wrapping up with a blanket and warm lavender scented neck pillow that are provided to promote relaxation. Due to the corrosive nature of salt to electronic devices, no cell phones or technology are allowed in salt room. You can enter and exit if needed for water or restroom.

  • No special attire is required. We suggest wearing something comfortable and bring socks as you will take off your shoes. But no worries if you forget-we will have socks for you if needed! Avoid wearing perfumes, colognes, hairspray, scented lotion, and the like to prevent discomfort for others that may have sensitivities.

  • Although it is incredibly relaxing at Salt & Souls, we are not a day spa. You will not need a robe as you go into the cave with what you are wearing.

  • Not to be confused with a salt float service, the Salt Sessions are DRY salt therapy. There is no water

  • No, it is not a sauna. There is no wet, dry, or infra red heat. It is a comfortable 72 degrees with low humidity

  • No. There is no need to shower after a salt session.

  • Depending on the size of the salt room, you may taste the “salty” air if you inhale deeply through your mouth. The salt that lands on you is mostly unnoticeable and does not affect your clothing or skin. You will see it more on darker clothes, but the salt won’t ruin clothing. A shower or change of clothes isn't necessary after a session.

  • We are located on the backside of the building where there is a parking lot. If the parking lot is crowded, there is street parking nearby.

  • The services and atmosphere of Salt & Souls is intended for relaxation. We are a quiet and tech free zone. When in a community halotherapy session, proper etiquette is to remain silent when you share the cave with others not in your party. If you are in a private or salt booth session, low volume is appreciated.

  • 10 or 45 minute sessions. Please arrive 10 minutes before session time. Late arrival may result in a cancelled or shortened session.

  • In addition to it being incredibly good for mental well-being to disconnect from technology, the salt that is blown in the room is microscopic and can get into tech devices. Including apple watches. When device meets the humidity of the outside world, it can be corrosive to your device.

  • We require 24 hours notice for cancellations of salt rooms and services. Events such as sound baths, acupuncture, etc., require a 48 hour notice. Cancellations less than 24 hours will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee, while no shows will be charged the entire amount.

  • Studies have conclusively shown that halotherapy is not only safe for adults, but for children of all ages, including babies and expectant mothers. If you are unsure, consult with your health care provider.

  • The short answer is YES! Please see details under KIDS menu tab

  • If your doctor approves of you spending time at the ocean, halotherapy should be perfectly fine for you. Halogenerators create a microclimate similar to ocean air, making the experience safe and soothing.

Because you’re not ingesting salt, it won’t raise your blood pressure. In fact, the calming environment may help lower it.

  • Halotherapy is not recommended for people with contagious diseases, fever, open wounds, unstable or uncontrolled hypertension, and active tuberculosis. Salt therapy is not advised during chemotherapy as the detoxification process of dry salt therapy may react with the chemo.

  • In addition to halotherapy, we offer lots of “two-for” events, as well as facials, energy work, and massage. Look under SERVICES and EVENTS menu tab for more info.
